{"id":7205,"date":"2012-08-08T15:28:00","date_gmt":"2012-08-08T13:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.karitativ.hu\/?p=311"},"modified":"2012-08-08T15:28:00","modified_gmt":"2012-08-08T13:28:00","slug":"spread-spread-spread-table-childrens-day-dinner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karitativ.hu\/en\/uncategorized\/terulj-terulj-asztalkam-gyermeknapi-etelosztas\/","title":{"rendered":"Sit, sit, sit, my table! - Children's Day food distribution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 20, 2011, our organization held its traditional Children's Day program for children with disabilities and their families at the Special Educational and Developmental Institution of the XVIII District (SOFI).<\/p>\n<p>The event was part of a Children's Day organised by SOFI, one of the most important celebrations in the life of the institution: a day that is really about the children who learn and grow up there, about play and joy. The programme, which was attended by 200 students from the institution and their families, started at 9 am. As an introduction, the children made posters and drawings about the environment, environmental protection and sustainable development, which were also very instructive for adults.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VsR2HnSTcJ0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"425\" height=\"349\"><\/iframe><\/center>After all the hard work came the well-deserved reward! After the playful tasks, the children were greeted by volunteers from our Foundation, who presented them with a gift pack full of sweets, fruit and non-perishable food. While handing over the packages, we played traditional Indian music to entertain the youngsters, to which the children, some of them with their parents, joined in happily, singing and clapping along with us. Following a long-standing tradition and by popular demand, we also distributed strawberry flavoured cranberry pudding (halava), based on an original Indian recipe, which was also a great success.<\/p>\n<p>It was nice to see so many sincere, kind smiles, the joyful good mood of the children and parents, and how a little care and attention can bring so much joy to others! We will continue next year!<br \/>\nThe programme was made possible by the Hungarian Food Bank Association's Ter\u00fclj-ter\u00fclj asztalk\u00e1m! grant programme, which we thank. Klubr\u00e1di\u00f3 also reported on the competition, you can listen to the programme here.<\/p>\n<p>We were also accompanied by a reporter from Kossuth Radio's Evening Talk magazine programme. The producer of the programme was in fact recording a day in the life of our organisation, and the recordings were made during that day.
