The Food for Life programme, volunteers of the Krishna Community of Believers in Hungary in Pécs are organising a warm food distribution this year, as Christmas approaches. On Sunday evening, 16 December, they will be helping those in need at the Men's Night Shelter of the TÁMASZ Foundation, where they expect between 70 and 100 people without shelter.
The Shelter provides an average of 70 homeless people a night's rest in 12 rooms, as well as cleaning, laundry, food preparation and social and mental health support.
The organisers of the programme will deliver and distribute 100 portions of fresh, hot food to the institution, including vegetarian bean goulash, bread, fruit and sweets, made from non-violent ingredients, in line with local flavours. Volunteers want to make this day a better, more bearable and truly hopeful day for local people living in extreme poverty.
As always, Krishna devotee volunteers will distribute spiritual food, called prasadam, offered to God, which is nourishment not only for the body but also for the soul, as it is spiritually charged.
