Tax 1%

Dear Friend!

Every citizen is required to mail their tax return by the May 20 deadline. The documentation includes two 1% beneficiary declarations: on one, the taxpayer may enter the tax ID number of a nonprofit organization, and on the other, the technical number of a church or a priority budget line item.

All of this offers a wonderful opportunity for all of us to express our support for important social causes and to help them without placing a burden on our family budgets. If you believe our food distribution work is important—through which we help people in need, such as the families featured in the video below—please list our Food for Life Foundation in your declaration of intent. Tax ID number: 18095575-1-41.

Unfortunately, many people are unaware that they have the option to choose between two 1% designations for their taxes. According to statistics, a large proportion of taxpayers still opt only for the 1% designation for foundations. It’s good to know that even if you haven’t designated a second 1% recipient, you’re still supporting a religious institution, since the government redistributes the remaining funds proportionally among those who have made a designation. So it’s worth deciding which religious institution’s activities you’d like to support. You can read more about this at www.egyhazi.hu, including why it’s worth designating a church 1% even if your tax liability is 0 Ft.

Our church’s activities are wide-ranging, so if you agree with any of them, please support the efforts of the Community of Krishna-Conscious Devotees in Hungary with your second tax contribution—the 1%—which can be donated to churches—at the Technical Number 0389 by mentioning it. Radio host Jani Vadon also supported the activities of the Hungarian Society for Krishna Consciousness this year, thereby helping our campaign.
