Food distributions are continuing without interruption

Recent press reports regarding amendments to the regulation governing food distribution—which suggested that food distribution activities carried out by civil society organizations might be restricted—are unconfirmed.

Regarding the preparation of legislation The Ministry of Human Resources has not contacted us so far, and we have not been notified of any changes or restructuring.. Over the past two-plus decades, our public benefit foundation’s food distribution programs have continued to operate smoothly even during periods of legislative change, and since our cooperation with the specialized state secretariats and local governments has been seamless, we are confident that we will be able to continue providing our social services without a hitch in the future as well.

In the capital, we distribute 1,800 meals daily at five locations, four of which are on municipal or privately owned property, in close cooperation with local governments and district family assistance services. Our distribution site in Városliget is located on public land; there is currently no fee for using this space, and we have the necessary permits, just as we do at our rural distribution sites in Eger, Debrecen, and Marcali. Nationwide, we provide approximately 650,000 meals annually to families in need, the elderly, and young people in distress.

We will once again be holding our nationwide Christmas food drive this year, during which 10,000 servings of hot meals and several dozen metric tons of non-perishable food will be distributed to families. In Óbuda on December 16, in cooperation with the Óbuda-Békásmegyer Local Government, and at Blaha Lujza Square on December 24, 25, and 26 starting at 11:00 a.m., we look forward to welcoming those in need.

We would like to express our gratitude and continue to welcome your generous donations to our Christmas charity drive as well as those made through the 1% tax deduction program!
