Today, August 12, at the request of the Embassy of the Republic of India in Hungary, the ’Food for Life’ humanitarian service of Krishna-conscious devotees is organizing a special food distribution in Népliget. This charity event is being held as part of a series of celebrations organized by the Indian government to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence (known in Hindi as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” —the Festival of Independence). Food distribution and donations to those in need are historic traditions in both Hungary and India.

At Thursday’s event, we will be hosting approximately one hundred beneficiaries together. At this charity event organized by Hungary’s largest vegetarian food distribution organization, in addition to the usual daily hot lunch, those in need will also receive a gift package of non-perishable food items, thanks to the Embassy’s support.
