After two decades, the food distribution movement organised by the Krishnas has moved to a new location. On 16 May, the last food distribution was held at Blaha Lujza Square, organised by Krishna Conscious Believers as part of the Food for Life Poverty Relief Programme. The needy can enjoy the food in the new location, in a quieter environment and in a less frequented area. Zsófia Sántha, Deputy Mayor of Józsefváros, and Kata Fodor, representative of the Krishna Community of Believers in Hungary, welcomed the guests to the new location.
There is one dish of food for whom it is the highlight of the day, or survival itself. Nowadays, it is not just the homeless who visit, but also the elderly, children, the unemployed and whole families. They may have a place to go home to, but there is no money for food," says the Krishna Conscious Believers publication. In this spirit, the Meals for Life Foundation has been organising food distributions for 20 years, which will continue from mid-May onwards in Teleki Square in Yózsefváros. For more than twenty years, hot meals have been distributed to those in need on the busy Blaha Lujza Square.
