Due to the renovation of the square, the Ételt az Életért Közhasznú Alapítvány will not be able to continue its food distribution at its usual location, Magyar Nemzet reports. They would like to move them to Teleki Square, but the organisation fears that the needy would not follow them to the infamous neighbourhood.
People in need will not be able to get their usual food at Blaha Lujza Square in Budapest because the square will be closed for renovation works, Magyar Nemzet reports on Wednesday. For eleven years, the Ételt az Életért Közhasznú Alapítvány (Food for Life Foundation) has been distributing food parcels consisting of a single meal, bread, yoghurt and fruit. Péterné Csilla Szilaj, a staff member of the foundation, told the newspaper that at least 500 people queue up for food every day, most of them elderly people or impoverished families with many children, a third of them homeless.
