This time, the special promotion at the end of April is the Dedicated to mothers, since they are the ones who hold the family together with their loving care and attention. In addition to working full-time just like fathers do, they also shoulder the lion’s share of household chores and child-rearing—a particularly great challenge for families in need, where often „a You have to whip up a meal out of thin air”.

„There are plenty of ways to save money. You just have to live a little more wisely, and then you’ll have enough for a lot of things. We can still consider ourselves lucky that we at least have an apartment, but even so, we have to pay closer attention to everything.” – says a woman on disability benefits who regularly attends the Hare Krishnas’ food distribution.

Rising food prices and the supply crisis are hitting low- and middle-income families the hardest. Even working people who had never before needed outside help to make ends meet have now found themselves in need.

„My oldest daughter is home because she’s sick, so I can only take on occasional jobs – says a single mother from Eger who is raising her children on her own. – ”There are bad things in life, but I see them as trials. You mustn't let events get you down."

In the Vedic culture followed by Krishna devotees, respect for and support of women are of paramount importance.
