Nationwide food drive this weekend – help support families in need by donating food!

For you, it’s just an ordinary shopping list; for her, it might be her Christmas wish list.

We are also organizing a food drive this weekend in collaboration with the Hungarian Food Bank Association.

This year's event:
– in 160 municipalities,
– in a total of 334 stores,
– will involve more than 6,500 volunteers. “Food for Life” will also be part of this effort.

You can find us at three department stores this weekend, from Friday through Sunday, November 18–20:
-> Auchan Budaörs,
-> the Metro Budakalász,
-> and at the Tesco Eger store.

So when you do your weekend shopping, it’s a good idea to buy some extra non-perishable food items and drop them off at the Food Bank volunteers’ meeting point. With the food collected this way, you’ll be supporting families in need for whom Christmas is just about survival. As part of this nationwide campaign, we hope to make life a little brighter for our fellow citizens in need this year. By donating to the Food for Life team, you are already supporting our holiday initiatives, including the Christmas Feast of Love.

Incidentally, donations always go to charitable organizations operating near the store, so the food can always be used to help people right here in the local community. After all, it’s also important for the planet that we minimize the distance food travels.
Did you know? Last year, this was the largest food drive in our country. Over the course of three days, 348,000 kg of non-perishable food was collected. That’s 223 kg every single minute! This is exactly what we can achieve when we work together.

This year, Tesco is also supplementing customers’ donations with financial support. It is donating 20% of the value of food donated at its stores to the Food Bank.

Az Élelmiszerbank karácsonyi adománygyűjtéséről számokban

 a tavalyi évben a háromnapos akció minden egyes percében 223 kiló élelmiszert

adományoztak az áruházak vásárlói;

 több mint 100 ezer ember ajánlott fel kisebb-nagyobb adományokat a nehézsorsú

honfitársaink számára;

 a segítségükkel akkor 348.000, azaz háromszáznegyvennyolcezer kilós rekorderedményt

sikerült elérni;

 amiből 70 ezer nélkülözőnek tudtak segítő élelmiszercsomagokat összeállítani a szervezők;

 idén az ország 160 településén 334 áruházban 6500 önkéntes fogadja az adományokat a

kasszák mellett kialakított gyűjtőpontokon;
