Aid for the victims of the sludge disaster - with video

Krishna devotees have been following the disaster on Monday in Kolontar as the damage has been repaired.

Our Foundation prepared on 6 October to prepare and deliver hot meals to people in need working in the disaster zone, and from Thursday onwards will distribute fresh, hot, cooked meals every day until the emergency is over. Our primary target was the most vulnerable area of Kolontar, but we were informed by the Director of the Hungarian Red Cross Veszprém County that the supply of the local people and the civilians working there is sufficient and is currently a secondary concern, being abandoned in favour of those working in Devecser, where the most intense battle is currently being fought to protect the natural environment. Here 270 houses have been flooded by the red, chemical flood. Damage assessment is ongoing, but could take a long time, so immediate assistance is needed.

The Foundation will therefore distribute food in this area every day at noon during the disaster response. The amount of food distributed is close to 500 meals per day, which can be increased up to 1000 meals per day, depending on the needs. The food distribution is coordinated by the Mayor's Office of Ajka and Devecser. Volunteers, donations of material goods, food and money are welcome.
