In one of the country's largest slums

After a year, we visited our friends in the Lyukó Valley again—the Maltese missionaries working there. On Thursday, February 27, we transported 400 servings of lentil stew and food packages sufficient for 80 families from Budapest and distributed them among the local residents in the impoverished settlement near Miskolc.

 

For those facing hardship, the local Maltese community runs a community center, provides laundry facilities and a community garden, thereby making this segregated neighborhood—deprived of public utilities—more livable. Every year, we deliver hot meals and food packages here to help the residents get through the difficult period at the start of the year; they were incredibly grateful again this year. And we, too, are grateful that we were able to help!
