Parcel Delivery in Kiskunhalas
On Saturday, volunteers from our „Like a Bite of Bread” program visited Kiskunhalas. The pleasant, sunny weather created a real picnic atmosphere. We hosted 70 families. Lunch was yellow pea stew, but we also brought a generous food package to go with it, containing milk, yellow peas, popcorn, margarine, breadcrumbs, fresh bread, and chocolate cookies. All these small acts of kindness are a great source of support for our guests, […]
Bringing Smiles to Children's Faces—A Mission in a Crazy World
On May 28, the Krishna Children’s Day food distribution will take place once again in front of the Village Hall. The “Food for Life” team will be waiting for families in need with lunch, food packages, and children’s activities! The past few years have mostly been marked by tension, fear, and anxiety due to the pandemic, which has now been replaced by the war crisis unfolding in our neighborhood. As a result of these crises, food prices have skyrocketed, and housing […]
560 meals and care packages in Tarnalelesz
„As part of our ”Like a Bite of Bread” program, we visited Tarnalelesz last week. This small town is home to many families in dire need, for whom even purchasing basic food items has become a challenge following the recent price hikes. We brought green pea stew for lunch and also gave the families who came a package of non-perishable foods and tasty treats, including, for example, milk, sugar, cookies, and […]
Another 4 metric tons of food aid for crisis-stricken Ukraine
This past Sunday, we delivered another shipment of non-perishable food to Ukraine, thanks in part to your generous donations. We received help not only from Hungary but also from abroad, and we delivered nearly 4 metric tons—enough to fill three trucks—of supplies to Uzhhorod, part of which was then transported on to Kyiv. Many people are still living in shelters there. In western Ukraine, the wave of refugees and the situation here […]
Care in Szolnok
Our „Like a Bite of Bread” program visited Szolnok. We treated those who came to 320 servings of a delicious, hot lunch, along with baked goods, and we also delivered food packages to 80 families who are in dire need. They were very grateful for every little thing, as rising food prices are making basic foodstuffs slowly unaffordable for them. The packages contained yellow peas, lentils, and sugar, along with sweets and treats. […]
Food for Life – Eger Charity Banquet in Honor of Mother’s Day
The Food for Life Foundation, which has been coordinating the humanitarian activities of Krishna devotees in our country for 30 years, provides hot meals to people in need every day of the year, but it also organizes special food package distributions several times throughout the year. The goal is for participants to use the packages they receive to cook together with their families at home, and—with a little help—for those in need to be able to […]
Twenty thousand bowls of hot food and lasting shelter - this is how the Krishnas help
Since the outbreak of the armed conflict in Ukraine, Krishna devotees have distributed 20,000 meals to refugees, while also continuously providing for those in need at home. They provide full support to refugees at their shelters. The First Month of Shock They waited for the first arrivals at train stations and along the border. The Food for Life Foundation, the humanitarian organization of the Krishna devotees, has been responding to the crisis […]
Featured Donations for Ukrainian Refugees
The Hungarian Food Bank Association is one of our regular partners. As part of a grant program, we have now received canned goods, margarine, long-life milk, chocolate, cookies, and—most importantly— baby formula—which we have distributed primarily to the eastern regions to assist Ukrainian refugees. To our food distribution point in Eger and in Debrecen, where we have been working with a charitable association since the start of the conflict to support the local […]
More than 550 meals in impoverished rural regions
Tard and Szomolya While we continue to help refugees, we must not lose sight of those in need living in our own country. After all, tens of thousands of people in rural areas also need support to make ends meet. It may be a drop in the bucket, but we regularly visit small towns as part of the „Like a Bite of Bread” program. In Tard and Szomolya, for example, we helped 270 people—a total of 100 families—this time […]
