The flood threat in Budapest and the surrounding area has ended. The floodwaters are receding rapidly. For seven days, starting on September 18, we provided service every day to Budapest and the surrounding area—specifically: (Római part, Budakalász, Leányfalu, Tahitótfalu, Dunabogdány, Pilismarót, Zebegény, Kismaros, Surány, Dömös, Vác, Göd)—who are staff members of the water management authority, the disaster management agency, and the Hungarian Armed Forces, as well as the hundreds of volunteers who participated in the efforts. Over the course of 7 days, we delivered 3,600 servings of hot lunch and fruit, as well as 1,200 servings of breakfast food, to the levees. We did all this while continuing to fulfill our daily food distribution duties.

We would like to thank, first and foremost, the local governments for making this collaboration possible, as well as our colleagues in the water management sector who welcomed us with open arms and always made us feel like part of the team. When a crisis arises, it can only be tackled by working together. We experienced this firsthand during those critical few days. Special thanks go to an enthusiastic team of 15 Krishna-conscious devotees who served as nighttime levee guards in Szentendre from Friday evening until early Saturday morning.
