Every day, our Foundation helps older people in need with food donations, with a special focus on those whose daily lives are overshadowed by financial difficulties.
The situation of older people in Hungary
Unfortunately, many elderly people live alone, especially in big cities like Budapest, where the cost of living is rising. In many cases, a large part of their pension is eaten up by rent, utilities and other expenses, leaving little money for food. More and more retired struggle to meet their daily needs, and many of them are forced to live in homeless shelters. The situation is exacerbated by health problems in old age, which also place a significant financial burden on them.
Why do we need them? 🙏
It is the elderly who have worked hard for many years, building the society and the economy of which we are now a part. They are the ones who brought us up, and now it is our turn to return the care. From Food for Life Foundation aims to make older people feel that they are not alone. Our regular food distributions aim to ease their daily burden and provide them with adequate nutrition.
The challenges of older people: more than financial difficulties
When we meet an elderly person, even if they are a person of advanced age walking down the street, we should remember that they often do not receive the care and attention they deserve. Physical frailties, lack of social esteem, and the challenges of daily life affect them severely.
The elderly are not asking for pity, but attention, patience and support. Old age is a natural stage of life that comes to everyone, if they are lucky, and we should prepare for it. How do we want to be treated in our old age? This is also something to bear in mind now when we meet older people.
