Three weeks, three special occasions, and more than a thousand servings of ice cream. Over the past few weeks, Food for Life has distributed a generous donation from the Hungarian Food Bank Association to children and those in need.

„Is all of this really real ice cream?”

„Yes, there will be enough for everyone.”

„But seriously, did they really bring all of this for us?”

„Yes, we got it as a gift!”

„I just can’t believe they could be this nice… Could they have delivered it to the wrong address?”

No, we weren't wrong. We took him to the best place. We were met with such joy and gratitude that even we just stood there smiling for several minutes.

Over the past three weeks, we've delivered ice cream in boxes on several occasions to places where a single serving of ice cream was a real surprise.

First, the to the Józsefváros summer camp We arrived at the place where underprivileged children were spending their summer vacation. They were spending the last day of camp together, which 80 servings of ice cream We managed to make it even more memorable.

Next, the 13th District Prevention Center followed. They were celebrating the start of the school year, for which 40 servings of ice cream We arrived.

At the final—and largest—stop of the campaign, the The 15 temporary shelters of the Budapest Methodological Social Center and Its Institutions (BMSZKI) We delivered ice cream. We deliver hot lunches to these locations on a regular basis anyway, but this time we included a little extra surprise with the meal.

That way, we were able to make three very different occasions a little sweeter: in one place, we celebrated the end of summer camp; in another, the start of a new chapter; and at the hostels, we were simply able to turn an ordinary weekday into a little celebration.

„I'm going to eat ice cream until I burst!”

And, of course, the childish remarks were inevitable this time, too. I had this conversation with one of the little girls at camp:

„Is the ice cream good?”

„Yes, but I won’t be able to come to camp next year.”

„Well, why? How come?”

„Because I'm going to keep eating ice cream until I burst!” 

Well, that's why we do it.
