A bowl of hot food, a little attention – Special Food Distribution in Óbuda
We are preparing for a special event on March 22: This year, for the first time, we are organizing our now-traditional, large-scale, special food distribution in Óbuda at the start of the year. The event will be held in Budapest at the Békásmegyer Community Center. Thanks to the Óbuda Municipal Government providing the venue, we will be able to provide hot meals and non-perishable food packages to 500 people in need.
Day after day, we meet elderly people who have worked their entire lives, yet can barely make ends meet on their pensions. We meet families where parents do everything they can to put food on the table, but by the end of the month, the pantry is empty. There are more and more people trying to balance their utility bills with their daily living expenses, for whom a bowl of hot food or a package of non-perishable food is not just help, but a ray of hope.
We know that hunger doesn’t discriminate, and help is needed not only during the holiday season. That is precisely why it is important for us to organize these special food distributions throughout the year. At this event, priority will be given to our beneficiaries in District III—they will be the first to receive food and food packages. After that, we warmly welcome anyone in need who comes to the venue and requires assistance.
We distribute daily meals at two locations in Óbuda, where we cook for nearly 300 people; we also provide them with fresh baked goods, vegetables, and fruit. Unfortunately, many of them are unable to come in person—they receive the food through their relatives.
On this day, however, we want to offer not just a bowl of food, but also a little attention, care, and appreciation to those who need it most. Because a small gesture, a kind word, or a warm meal is sometimes worth more than anything else.
If you know anyone who is in a difficult situation, let them know that we’ll be waiting for them on March 22 at the Békásmegyeri Community Center on Csobánka Square starting at 9:00 a.m.!
