It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our friend!

Dear Supporters!

Dear Supporters!

We have some sad news to share with you.

Yesterday evening, our dear friend Mahajana prabhu (Péter Pálok), a beloved member of the Food for Life family, passed away.

Péter, or Jan—as we called him—was one of the key figures in the development of Krishna consciousness in Hungary.

Our entire community owes him a debt of gratitude  for his extraordinary dedication and service. He has been a member of the Food for Life mission since January 2016.

Even though his health meant he could really only take on office work, he still participated not only in the organization but also in the distribution of food,  even when working outside the office.

To many of us, he wasn't just a coworker or a member of our community; we saw him as a member of our family, as our older brother.

Krishna consciousness—or Vaishnavism, as it is known by its ancient name—teaches us that our existence here in this body is temporary and that the body is not our true self. The world in which we now live is not a place where it is worth spending many lifetimes. It teaches us to help others understand that it is important for everyone to follow a spiritual path, whatever that path may be.

Jan’s entire life, guided by Krishna consciousness, was dedicated to helping others. This included distributing books, organizing and conducting programs, preparing delicious meals, introducing Indian culinary culture to Hungary, engaging in dialogue and building relationships with other religions, and feeding the poor.

Dear Mahajana prabhu! You have given so much of Krishna consciousness and of yourself to others. We will be eternally grateful to you for this! We will never forget your kind nature, your sense of humor, your wisdom, your perseverance, and the way you loved people—and the way you loved us.

It was an honor to serve others alongside you. We—and everyone who truly knew you—will miss you very much.

Dear brother, we cherish the time we spent with you in our hearts!

Hare Krishna!
