„Our ”Like a Bite of Bread” program held a huge event in Pékéscsaba. 🙂 We helped a total of 261 people, 130 of whom were children. <3
During the food distribution, we also handed out 100 packages of non-perishable food, each weighing about 10–12 kg, so they were quite substantial. They contained flour, wheat groats, sugar, oil, pasta, rice, jam, lentils, yellow peas, canned corn, and ketchup. We also gave every visitor a banana and some chocolate as a treat, and the children took home shortbread cookies and breakfast cereal—much to the delight of the little ones. 🙂
At our events in Békéscsaba—especially since there are many young children—in addition to serving food, we also take great care to ensure that we come together in a positive atmosphere, a pleasant setting, and as part of a program that is uplifting on a spiritual level as well.
We always welcome our guests with a short performance or musical entertainment, as well as a buffet table, so they were immediately greeted with soft drinks, chocolate, fruit, and—for the first time—a slice of vegan pizza each. It was a real party atmosphere. 🙂
Special thanks to our volunteers working in the region and to the program organizers, who carry out all kinds of tasks in their free time—from fundraising to implementing and running the program, and maintaining communication. It’s important to mention that in Békéscsaba, even minors regularly help with food distribution. The children of the food distributors enthusiastically take part in various tasks, while seeing a wonderful example set by their parents. <3 Thanks to Hunapfel for the apple donation and to one of our enthusiastic supporters for donating vegan pizza. <3
