Preparing for Advent

In Christian culture, Advent is a time of anticipation and preparation for the coming of the Lord. For us, the devotees of Krishna who carry out the foundation’s work, Christmas is also of great significance, as it is rich in both external and internal events.

There’s no need to go into great detail about what’s happening on the outside. As is the case every year, as the holiday approaches, the hectic „marathon” of the final months kicks off here as well —the phone lines are ringing off the hook, emails asking for and offering help are pouring in by the dozen, and food, clothing, and toys to be distributed are constantly piling up in the warehouse. During this time, we set everything else aside and focus all our energy on our clients, striving to meet the flood of requests and the increased demand.

Actually, for us, the waiting period—the time spent preparing—is shorter; we get right down to business starting in early December. Throughout the month, various special promotions and events follow one after another. Unfortunately, our capacity isn’t unlimited—although in recent years, as demand has grown, we’ve continuously strived to expand our programs. As Christmas approaches, we are treating nearly every distinct group within our highly diverse and varied client base to personalized holiday promotions tailored to their specific needs.

In Budapest a hospital for homeless people We are preparing both a cultural program and food gifts. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities To mark the occasion, we are organizing a special event for this disadvantaged group, and a little later, another one for our beneficiaries with large families. The with the 7th District Municipal Government We’re hosting a joint holiday gathering before Christmas, where we’ll also be welcoming our regular residents with a variety of activities. The series of events will follow the usual Three-day distribution at Blaha Lujza Square will bring to a close what can rightly be called Budapest’s largest Christmas food drive.

Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing at our rural locations as well: In Pécs and Eger, we’re already organizing special promotions for St. Nicholas Day. And at Christmas, our volunteers will join the aid program in even more towns and cities—such as Miskolc, Debrecen, and Somogyvámos—with holiday promotions. In addition, we’re sending out 100 packages of non-perishable food to people in need living in remote, and multiply-disadvantaged regions of the country, in an effort to make the holidays a little brighter for as many people as possible, since we know how difficult it is for parents, children, and elderly people living alone to spend this time in deprivation.

This period is the A time for expressions of gratitude and loving responses It also offers a great opportunity to look back on the year, evaluate our progress, and make plans. At this time, however, it’s not just us who are evaluating—our professional partners, clients, volunteers, and donors are doing so as well. During these busy days filled with hard work, it becomes even more evident that the feedback we receive is very positive. Based on this feedback, we can say without exaggeration that our foundation plays a significant role in the life of the community; after all, when it comes to providing food and helping those in need, our name is the first to come to mind for most people. This shows that the work we’ve done throughout the year is credible to many, and that both the public and our fellow aid workers trust us. We couldn’t ask for greater validation than this.

We would like to thank all of our supporters, volunteers, and professional partners who contribute in any way to the success of our work!
