Children's Day programmes

Through food distributions and colourful cultural programmes, we aim to raise awareness of the vulnerability of children, the importance of nutrition and child protection.

On the occasion of International Children's Day, we will once again be holding a special food distribution as part of our childcare programme. On Saturday, 26 May, in Óbuda, in cooperation with the local Family Support Service, and on 7 June, in connection with the Hungarian Food Bank Association's competition, we will organise a Children's Day celebration for the beneficiaries of the Special Education and Development Institute. Both events are excellent examples of effective long-term cooperation between the organisations involved.

Together, the two sites will distribute food, sweets and dairy products to around 400 children. In addition to delicious food, gifts and surprises, families are also invited to a cultural programme and a children's day programme. With a magic show, balloon-folding, face painting and live Indian music, we hope that the weekends in May and June will provide children and their parents with not only a daily minimum of nutrition, but also an experience.

In addition, our foundation also tries to help families in difficulty in everyday life. Since 2011, our organisation has also taken on the responsibility of feeding the young people of the Bokréta Residential Homes, which currently feeds around 40 children a day, but the institution has already indicated the need for expansion. This facility also houses adolescents, who have a larger appetite and higher nutritional needs, and for whom adequate nutritional intake is essential for daily learning and sporting activities. The residential home indicated that their resources would not be sufficient to feed the young people and they chose us mainly because of our quality, nutritious meals. It is a great pleasure for us to be able to support the development of young talents.

According to the 2011 measurement data, there are around 450 000 children living in a particularly disadvantaged situation in Hungary today. Of these, 200,000 children are living in critical living conditions, i.e. they do not have access to basic necessities such as drinking water or a minimum daily ration. Through our food campaigns, we want to raise awareness of the vulnerability of children, the need to protect them, and the shared responsibility of society, in an attempt to reduce the growing problem of extreme poverty. Our programmes offer delicious food, offered to God, and thus nourishing for the heart and soul, and provide experiences for children in need.
