Not only did we wrap up May with Children’s Day events, but we also kicked off June that way. Our volunteers in Eger visited a local preschool that serves children facing multiple disadvantages. The volunteers brought the children LEGO sets and treats, including candy, as gifts, which the kids were very happy to receive.

It cannot be emphasized enough how important a dignified childhood and the right to a healthy and fulfilling life are. Throughout our lives, we carry within us our sense of security—or lack thereof—our ability to trust—or lack thereof—and our self-belief—or lack thereof. These factors will be with us when we choose a career path, apply to school, and enter the workforce; that is why we must take great care of children’s inner worlds. Food distribution is about much more than just a few bowls of food.
