Food in the Rain – SUN Festival

Day after day, passersby near the Krishna tent at the SUN Festival were greeted by the sight of long lines. Our foundation was also represented at youth festivals this summer, distributing hundreds of meals.

Various youth events provide an excellent opportunity to carry out our main mission: food distribution. In addition to EFOTT and OZORA, we were also present this year at the increasingly popular SUN Festival, where nearly 10,000 participants from almost every corner of the world gathered. We distributed hundreds of servings of hot meals daily to hungry festivalgoers, as the physical and mental well-being of the younger generation is one of our primary goals. In most cases, the diet and lifestyle of festivalgoers leave something to be desired, so in addition to providing food, we strive to convey a positive message and offer an alternative through our presence and our programs.

Every day we served nutritious vegetarian one-dish meals, much to the delight of the participants. It was also a relief that here, at least, we could take shelter under the tents from the heavy thunderstorms of the last few days. As the busy days went by, more and more people came to our food distribution site; word of the delicious free meals spread quickly. By the end of the festival, we were able to welcome back our „regulars,” some of whom will return to us as volunteers in the future—this time on the other side of the line, behind the counter.

According to the Vedic scriptures, which form the foundation of our mission, in the transcendental world—the eternal abode of the living soul—every day is a festival: every word is a song, every step a dance—and, of course, delicious food is essential to the festive atmosphere. That is why it is important to us to enrich the festival program even in this world through our free food distribution, our musicians, and our dancers.
