As a result of the humanitarian crisis, 1 million people have fled Ukraine so far. The refugees are trying to return home or at least reach a safe place by traveling through neighboring countries, including Hungary; among them are several thousand Indian students, mainly medical students. Their stories bring tears to the eyes of many of us. Most walk tens, and in some cases hundreds, of kilometers to the border; they’ve been traveling for five days and are trying to survive on nothing but potato chips or chocolate. And for a bowl of hot food—now that they’re finally safe—they’re incredibly grateful. At the request of the Indian Embassy, 1,500 meals are provided daily
We contribute only by providing food to help care for and rescue them, while we also stand ready to assist those arriving at the border. And the refugees are coming from farther and farther away—from increasingly remote parts of Ukraine—and with increasingly harrowing stories…

Among them are several thousand Indian students, mainly medical students. Their stories are heartbreaking. Most of them had to walk long distances—some as far as hundreds of kilometers—to reach the border, surviving for five days on nothing but chips or chocolate. They are very grateful for a plate of hot food. At the request of the Indian Embassy, we are providing up to 1,500 portions of cooked food, while we also provide meals for other refugees at the border. Refugees are arriving from farther and farther parts of Ukraine, sharing increasingly shocking stories…
