Large-scale food distribution for Easter

On 19 April, the Easter weekend, we will once again organise a special food distribution on Blaha Lujza Square for all those who are also facing the holiday of scarcity. The main focus will again be on children.

IMG_2758Once again, 1300 people are expected to enjoy a bowl of hot soup, bread, lemonade and a gift pack of non-perishable food on Blaha Lujza Square at noon on 19 April. The food aid package will enable poor families to replenish their depleted stocks and have something to eat on the festive days when our daily food distribution and other social services are on break. Although the event will be held in Budapest, it will also attract people from several Pest County municipalities, where poverty is more acute than in the capital.

We would like to pay special attention to children, as more and more families with children are attending these events, who also wait for hours, regardless of the age of the children. For them, we would like to offer toys and stickers.

The cold pack will include nearly 20 products, mainly basic dry food, but also chocolate, fruit yoghurt and granola bars for children. The value of each package will be around 3000 HUF. In addition, 260 litres of lemonade, 130 kg of bread and 130 litres of halava - Indian sweets - will be distributed. Anyone who is willing to walk the line can benefit from these gifts. The food distribution will start at 12.00 noon, based on the tried and tested numbered wristband system. The queue numbers will avoid anyone standing in line for hours without making sense. The service will take place in pairs at two counters to minimise queuing. We have around 80 enthusiastic volunteers to make all this happen, so we are no longer looking for new applicants.
