Summer has arrived, and most of us are enjoying the sunny weather and our vacations. Unfortunately, however, the armed conflict in our neighboring country has not ended, and every bit of help is needed. That is why we are sending another 1.2 metric tons of food to Uzhhorod, Ukraine, on June 10, so that local Krishna devotees and the local “Food for Life” team can use it to cook meals for refugees from the eastern part of the country.
The shipment contained a large quantity of non-perishable food items and cooking ingredients, including important spices that are harder to come by but essential for food preparation. We also brought soft drinks and snacks.
But it wasn’t just to Transcarpathia that we delivered non-perishable food and cooking ingredients in recent weeks. In Csenger, near the border, for example, many young people attend the Ady Endre High School and Vocational School. These are boys who are nearing the end of high school; they are completing or have completed their studies here in Hungary, and due to the armed conflict taking place in our neighboring country, it is unfortunately impossible for them to return home—in fact, some of them have nowhere to go…
In addition to basic food items such as oil and sugar, we donated soft drinks, treats, snacks, cleaning supplies, and laundry detergent to them. The young residents were very happy, and we hope that this will help make these otherwise important years of their lives a little easier!
