More than 550 meals in impoverished rural regions

Tard and Szomolya
While we continue to help refugees, we must not lose sight of those in need living in our own country. After all, tens of thousands of people in rural areas also need support to make ends meet. It may be a drop in the bucket, but we regularly visit small towns as part of the „Like a Bite of Bread” program. In Tardon and Szomolya, for example, we helped 270 people—a total of 100 families—once again.
Along with the hot lunch, we brought a package of non-perishable food items, including sugar, flour, semolina, and pasta, as well as fruit and delicious sweet cookies to the children’s delight.
Mezőszemere and Szihalom
We visited the Mezőszemere and Szihalom regions again. As part of our rural food distribution program, we served hot lunches to 385 people and delivered non-perishable food packages to 220 families. These packages contained fresh bread, pasta, margarine, and other staple foods. We also included dates and bananas, which the guests were very happy to receive.
Food prices are rising steadily; in fact, prices are going up week after week, so it provides temporary relief for most families to not have to buy at least a few items. Buying food on a daily basis is a constant source of stress for low-income families and retirees, not to mention the unemployed or the chronically ill and elderly.
