600 hot meals and donation packs were distributed by the Meals for Life programme of the Krishna Conscious Believers of Hungary's Poor Relief Mission on 22 December on Vörösvár Road. The local government has traditionally maintained good relations with the Krishnas, and Mayor Balázs Bús helped with the Saturday's special food distribution.
To celebrate the holidays, the volunteers in the queue not only received a delicious hot lunch, but also a durable food parcel, toys and sweets to make this a more meaningful, bearable and hopeful time for those in need and their children. The organisers reckoned that with several days' worth of non-perishable food parcels, even the poorest families could survive modestly until the end of the holidays.
