A special children's feeding campaign is launched in Kisterenye. 750 meals for children in need between the two holidays

Between the two holidays, our Foundation is launching a children's feeding programme in Kisterenye, in the old kindergarten building, at the request of the NGO JEROMAF. This action is particularly needed because families in the village, living in very poor conditions, are unable to feed their children properly during the school holidays. The unemployment rate in this municipality of Nógrád county is extremely high. The children living here have little opportunity to escape, they study in unheated flats, mostly by candle light, and their meals are inadequate.

Therefore, at the request of the organisation, our volunteers from Eger took on the task of feeding 150 children a day between 27 and 31 December. They will not only receive a fresh hot lunch, but also fruit and dairy products to ensure proper nutrition. Our foundation has already received many similar requests, as in several small villages the holiday meals for children are not provided during the various kindergarten and school holidays, and the local authorities do not have enough extra funding to provide the only daily meals.

The hope is that a more balanced supply will encourage young people to learn and do well in nursery and school from January.
