Special Event on World Food Day: 150 Smiles and Non-Perishable Food in Békéscsaba

Our volunteer team in Békéscsaba organized a large-scale event to mark World Food Day, carrying out their Sunday event with the help of a major donor.
During the food distribution, 102 packages were handed out to a total of 150 people, 113 of whom were children / <3
The food distribution included the following items in the packages of non-perishable, long-lasting food: flour, wheat semolina, pasta, oil, rice, lentils, canned corn, crumbly cookies, bananas, chocolate, tomato juice, popcorn, salt, and a total of 200 kg of apples were distributed.
The food distribution in Békéscsaba took place as part of the „Like a Bite of Bread” rural food distribution program. The children, families, and guests who arrived were not only able to take home this generous package of non-perishable food, but they were also treated to a buffet, featuring, among other things, pizza, soft drinks, chocolate, and fruit, as well as chocolate-covered Gauranga cookies—much to the children’s delight.
As part of the special program, the children were also able to enjoy a musical performance accompanied by Indian instruments. The musicians traveled all the way from Szolnok, Szeged, and Murony to Békéscsaba to play for the children. The enthusiastic young guests also got to color together and had glitter tattoos applied—something no child could resist.
The program’s guests included students from a local special education school who are facing difficult circumstances, families living in temporary housing, children from the Békés foster care home, as well as other needy families and individuals living alone in the city.
We hope this event will bring a little smile and hope to people’s faces and hearts. A special thank you to the volunteers from Békéscsaba who took part in the event—they organize fantastic programs every time! <3
