Across the country, relief workers and volunteers are distributing hot food, groceries and clothing to people in need during and after the holidays. Every year, more and more people visit the food distribution points, for example, on 24 December in Blaha Lujza Square in Budapest, the queue of people in need reached unprecedented lengths, with many families queuing for hours for a bowl of hot food.
As the festive season approaches, more and more people are awakening their consciences and trying to help their fellow human beings in need. As well as opening up the helplines, donations to various aid organisations can help hundreds of people, even brightening up their Christmas with a warm meal.
As part of the Meals for Life programme, a traditional Christmas food distribution will be held at Blaha Lujza Square until 26 December by the Krishna Community of Believers in Hungary. On the morning of 24 December, the morning before Christmas Eve, so many people queued up that it took hours to get food and gifts. This year, in addition to fruit and sweets, the gifts included toys, as more and more people came with their families and children.
