At the start of the school year, our Foundation’s Pécs Office helps even more families than usual. In September, a total of 108 food aid packages will be distributed at three educational institutions to disadvantaged students and their families. Staff at these institutions are actively involved in this effort once again, as they are the ones who identify the children and adults from the families most in need.

In September, at the Mátyás Éltes School, at the Quality of Life Improvement Services Institution on György Endresz Street, and at the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, food packages containing bread, flour, wheat groats, pasta, rice, potatoes, carrots, zucchini, plums, cornflakes, and pudding. Through these institutions, we are able to reach children and families who are struggling with some form of intellectual or health-related disability. The institutions serve not only clients living in Pécs but also children and adults who come from the surrounding area.

Our “Food for Life” program strives to establish close cooperation with staff at local institutions in order to provide assistance as effectively as possible; in some cases, this is not the first time our associations have provided aid to members of these institutions. The organizers hope that, thanks to the donations received, they will be able to repeat Campaign 108 month after month, as the local volunteer team’s food and package distribution campaigns are made possible largely thanks to local supporters.

The activists are striving to seize every opportunity to expand and promote their program as widely as possible, given the circumstances. On September 13 in Pécs, the KÉK-Zöld office building will open in Melinda Park in the Kertváros neighborhood, where it will serve as a center for environmental education. During the Melinda Festival, volunteers from our program will welcome interested guests with Indian sweets and savory treats. Donations made on-site will support the efforts of the local food distribution program.
