We also visited the SOFI children at the Havanna housing complex. On this occasion, in addition to 300 servings of Somlói galuska and 50 liters of rosewater lemonade, we distributed a variety of wonderful toys to the students at this school in need of support.
On Thursday, May 28, we were once again able to hold our traditional Children’s Day program for children with mild and severe disabilities at the Special Education and Development Institute (SOFI) located in the Havanna housing complex. As always, our enthusiastic volunteers and musicians were warmly welcomed on this occasion. We were delighted to see the beautiful and practical items crafted by the school’s students, such as traditional graduation satchels, satin necklaces decorated with painted beads, and knotted bracelets with sparkling stones—from which we each received a piece as a keepsake.
Our dedicated volunteers treated 300 socially disadvantaged children to delicious Somlói galuska and rosewater lemonade, along with a wide variety of wonderful toys. The event was filled with a lively atmosphere, where brave participants even got to play our musicians’ instruments. Afterward, we sought to make their day even more special and joyful with live Indian music accompanied by singing that got everyone dancing. We hope that through this initiative, we were able to alleviate the children’s hardships a little and make their weekend a happier one.
