The incredible efforts of our Ukrainian colleagues, in numbers

Nothing but fear and chaos—and yet what gives us hope is the selfless work of the local volunteers at Food for Life.

Here are the figures for the period from February 25 to May 17, 2022, showing how Food for Life in Ukraine provided assistance:

By organizing more than 5,000 food distribution drives in 14 regions of Ukraine.

By distributing more than 491,500 servings of hot meals and 433,000 sweets and small snacks over the course of 82 days

In 18 cities across Ukraine, including Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Odessa, Dnipro, to refugees, those seeking shelter underground from bombings, orphans, people fleeing military operations, the elderly, the sick, those unable to flee the armed conflict, the elderly, and people living at or passing through train stations.

The campaign has not stopped, as the conflict, unfortunately, continues. To provide an additional 7,000 meals of hot food each day, local volunteers need 5 metric tons of food ingredients—including grains and vegetables—_daily_ to continue their work.

It costs at least $1.50 to produce a bowl of food, but with fuel shortages and rising food prices, the cost could be several times that amount.

The Hungarian “Food for Life” organization has already delivered several truckloads of food to assist the local team of Krishna devotees and support their work. With your help and dedication, we will continue our work unabated, including our domestic food distribution mission, which we consider our fundamental duty.

Please pray that this terrible crisis in our neighboring country will be resolved as soon as possible!

Thank you very much, Hare Krishna!
