See you at the SUN Festival!
The Food for Life Foundation doesn’t take a break even in the summer; it steadfastly organizes its food distribution drives, the next one of which will take place at the SUN Festival. It’s the perfect opportunity to not only distribute food but also to show the younger generation an alternative way of living. The SUN Festival first visited our small country last summer and entertained festivalgoers for a full week. At the event, Food […]
We hosted several hundred people in City Park
In early July, the Chariot Festival was held once again in Budapest. Our cultural festival welcomed the capital’s residents and all interested visitors amid the most beautiful summer weather, where anyone could experience this colorful Indian tradition. This year marked the 22nd time the Chariot Festival, the Ratha Jatra celebration, was held in Budapest. The all-day festival and the colorful parade brought to life an ancient tradition that […]
Attila Szanyi-Karl
I was introduced to Krishna consciousness in 1996. This encounter did not simply mark the beginning of a religious journey, but also my introduction to a spiritual culture with a 5,000-year history, in which the role of food is of paramount importance among its key teachings. Devotees of Krishna consciousness offer every meal to God before eating it; in this way, the food becomes purified and sanctified. Throughout the years I spent in the community, I was accompanied by […]
Summer Event Series in Baranya
In Pécs, June was all about the children, too. Our foundation’s Pécs team helped support the Children’s Day program at Vasas Elementary School and also visited the beneficiaries of the TÁMASZ Foundation. The final stop on the series of events was Pécsbánya, where our volunteers also participated in the closing day of a creative camp. Our Pécs team was asked to support the Children’s Day program at Vasas Elementary School. The pre-planned […]
Helping Out at SOFI on Children's Day
We also visited the children at SOFI in the Havanna housing complex. On this occasion, in addition to 300 servings of Somlói galuska and 50 liters of rosewater lemonade, we distributed a variety of wonderful toys to the students at this school in need of support. On Thursday, May 28, we were able to once again organize our traditional […] event for the children with mild and severe disabilities at the Special Education and Development Institute (SOFI) located in the Havanna housing complex.
Children's Day Collaborations in Our Rural Towns
In addition to the special Children’s Day food distribution in Budapest, Children’s Day food distributions also took place nationwide, near our other regional centers. Nationwide, volunteers delivered nearly 2,000 hot meals and several metric tons of non-perishable food, fruit, and sweets to those in need. On May 29, our volunteers held a special food distribution in Eger for young people in need and families with many children. Members of our foundation’s Eger office provided not only a delicious, hot one-dish meal but also […]
Family Day and Food Distribution in Óbuda
The special Children’s Day food distribution in the capital has come to an end—in just one day, nearly 900 servings of hot meals, fruit, and tea, as well as 10 metric tons of food ingredients, were distributed to families in need. Volunteers from the Budapest chapter of the international learning program „Pizza Effect” also participated in the event. Members of the Krishna-conscious community greeted those gathered at the Flórián Square venue with cheerful singing, where […]
A Milestone in Food Distribution in Eger
Our foundation has been operating its Eger office since 1999 to help families and seniors in need in the region by distributing 400 meals a day. Thanks to a collaboration between the government, civil society, and the church, the program has moved to a new location. Unfortunately, the number of people in need is growing in our country, which is why our Foundation’s volunteers in Eger have made it their mission to help those whose circumstances […]
Children's Day with Us
„The years of childhood are the years when the heart is most sensitive and malleable. Whatever is planted there can hardly ever be eradicated.” /J. F. Oberlin/ On Children’s Day, we aim to raise awareness of children’s vulnerability and the importance of nutrition and child protection through food distributions and a variety of activities. In 2014, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) calculated exactly how many people live in […]
We're launching a volunteer training program!
The Food for Life Foundation’s Budapest office is launching a four-session volunteer training program as part of the Pizza Effect grant program. Over the course of the Foundation’s many years of work, numerous volunteers have joined our activities, and in recent years, there has been a growing demand from our volunteers to learn more about the work we do and the principles behind our activities. According to the feedback […]
